Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Players can upgrade their weapons and equipment by adding new affixes. They can also increase the base stats of the item or provide additional benefits. To upgrade item s, the player must have the item in their inventory and access the kiln.
Typically objects that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base while objects with strong bases, such as Eth titans don't change much in their stats after being upgraded.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be slotted into weapons, armor, trinkets and tools for gathering, offering an attribute bonus or additional effect while the equipment is being used. They can be purchased from vendors, gathered in loot, thrown away by enemies or received as rewards from missions or chests. Certain upgrades can also be equipped with special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before they are upgraded.
To upgrade a weapon or piece of armor, the user must choose it and click on the Upgrade button located in the toolbar. This will show a preview on the right side of the screen showing what the expected upgrade stats will be, as well as the necessary component or material needed to make that happen.
There are three kinds: universal upgrades (which include gems), prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, which comprise gems, can be placed in any kind of equipment and offer less bonuses than upgrade components that are type-restricted. Infusions are only placed in ascended gear or legendary equipment are similar to jewels but provide larger bonuses and are not able to be placed in any other type of equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They add the suffix at the end of the names of items. For instance, adding a Glyph could transform a Staff wrapping of Minor Vigor into a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.
If the player upgrades their gathering tool and replaces glyphs with another glyph the previous one will be returned to their inventory. However, replacing any other upgrade component can destroy it, with the exception of the inscriptions that can be swapped.
Leveling
The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some important differences from previous versions. Gear is now divided into tracks and items can be upgraded a set number of times before they're "leveled out." The cost of upgrading increases with each level, however the materials needed do not. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a couple of essential items and maximize their impact instead of spreading the upgrade costs across several pieces.
This allows the item to receive upgraded components and a greater chance of success. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Energy, and it will reset to zero after failure or increases if the upgrade is successful.
After a piece has been upgraded to the maximum level, it will be able to receive an affix to increase its capabilities. The number of affixes available will depend on the item's base. For instance an uncommon or exclusive weapon with a base that is standard will only have two affixes, whereas a legend armor will have eight affixes.
Each upgrade process will require a specific amount of Flightstones or Crests, based on whether the item is at its current level and what slot it is placed in. Typically, weapons will require more Flightstones to upgrade than other types of equipment.
If an item fails to attain its maximum level, the NPC grants the player the option to transfer it to a new character and re-infuse the item with a new set or upgrades. This process can take up to two hours and cost the same amount of materials. However it has a lower rate of success.
Engineers will utilize a level to measure the height of the building against an established location, such as a benchmark. This process is called a "level loop." It involves taking readings with the level and backsight rod before turning the level and taking the foresight rod reading. This method ensures that the buildings are constructed with the highest degree of precision and security.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is a very important element of the game that can boost the damage, strength or other characteristics. This can be accomplished through the item menu or pressing the Reroll button of an upgraded item. Rerolling is costly and should only be used in very rare instances.
The game allows players to recycle upgraded items, and use them to acquire reroll tokens. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item or a similar item. Recyclable items come with an indicator that indicates the degree of upgrade. The cost and rarity of upgrading an item determines the amount of level that has been filled.
Prior to this, certain upgrade items were given priority affixes, which made them easier to roll. This meant that you'd receive the most crucial stats to your build more often than other items. This included stats like the armor's total armour, thorns and the control impaired duration stats or the weapon's bonus attack speed and strike chance.
This was changed with the recent patch. Priority affixes were removed, and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling for each stat. This can be either good or bad, depending on what you want and need from your equipment.
Each upgraded item can come with a bonus that increases the power of the item by a set percentage or a flat amount. These bonuses are added to normal affixes. The more you improve an item, the better chances of obtaining the bonus of your choice.
The game also features several sets, which give a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are equipped on a unit. This is an excellent way to add a lot of power to a specific character without spending lots of money.
Many players reroll their weapons and gear, especially in the early stages. Rerolling is a way to gain a stronger character quicker, which enables players to advance in the game and reach higher tiers.
Sets
Sets are collections that can be organized differently. They can be different sizes, have no elements, or only contain a single element. They can be used for organizing data or sorting information. They can also be used for analyzing patterns. Sets can be classified in various ways in terms of size and shape.
There are a variety of set items available to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Certain items are worth upgrading, while some are not. Armor sets with the highest defense value or set bonuses are usually worth upgrading. Weapon upgrades aren't as effective in boosting stats as their purple counterparts. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if you already have many weapons or armor pieces already.
Certain set items are upgraded to take advantage of their unique procs which can be useful in some builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded to Exceptional Winged Helms and Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. (Strength requirements and Level requirements were also increased).
Another reason to upgrade certain items is to bring them up to the same level as their levels. For instance, the Immortal King set has a large level range, from 29 to 76. The upgrade of lower-level items in the set can increase their defense and increase their competitiveness in terms of damage.
To determine if a product is worth upgrading, players can click the Upgrade button on the screen of their character. The item's attributes will be displayed, along with any required items. To upgrade the No-mouth face for instance, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also go to the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to check the upgrade requirements of specific items.
In general, weapons and armor have a higher trade value when fully updated. Particularly, for weapons that feature spell/weapon damage glyphs upgrading them to gold is recommended because it will result in a significant increase in their performance. The armor that has a new appearance will also benefit from this as its defense value will increase when it goes from purple to gold.
